Expense report date rules
The following are the date rules for expense reports.
Expense Report beginning date:
- This is not a required field and can be left blank.
- The date can be prior to the beginning balance date.
- The date can be prior to the Do Not Allow date in Company > Preferences. The session journal is created on the Do Not Allow date.
Expense Report ending date:
- This is a required field.
- The field pre-fills with today's date.
- The date cannot be prior to the Do Not Allow date in Company > Preferences.
- The date must be after the beginning balance date.
Transaction rows:
- If both the beginning and ending dates are set, the detail row date cannot be prior to the beginning date or after the ending date.
- The transaction date must be after the beginning balance date.
- If no beginning date is set, the transaction date can be prior to the Do Not Allow date used for GLDs and session journals.
Other rules
- The Expense Report ending date cannot be before the Expense Report beginning date.
- When editing the expense report, the beginning date can be blanked out if the expense report has not been processed.
- The Expense Report beginning date cannot be after the earliest transaction date.
- The Expense Report ending date cannot be prior to the latest transaction date.
- When the expense report is processed, the Expense Report ending date is locked.
- The date rules apply for the credit card import list.
