Require Employees to Track Time on Their Whereabout Entries

Depending on your role in WorkBook, you can require selected employees to track their time on whereabout entries. This is useful if you want to compare the whereabout hours with the timesheet hours when approving timesheets. To require employees to track time on their whereabouts, you must set Company Variable to 3 - Required for Some Employees.

Note: To complete this task, you must have access to Allow Time Entry as defined in Employee Cross-Company Setup under Settings.

To require employees to track time on their whereabout entries:

  1. On the main toolbar, click Settings .
  2. If you have more than one Company in your WorkBook system, use the drop-down list above the left pane of the Settings page to select the Company that contains the whereabout type for which you want to activate time tracking.
  3. In the left pane of the Settings page, click Company Settings > Company Variables.
  4. In the Find Setting Number field, enter 74 and select 3 - Required for Some Employees from the drop-down list.
  5. In the left pane of the Settings page, click Employee Settings > Whereabout.
  6. In the Time Tracking column, select the check box for the whereabout type for which you want to activate time tracking.
  7. In the left pane of the Settings page, click Employee Settings > Employee Settings.
  8. In the User Must Track Time column, select the check box for the employee who you want to require to track time on their whereabouts.
Alternatively, you can require an employee to track time on their whereabout entries in Settings by selecting the User Must Track Time check box in the Basic Employee Settings of the employee card. For more information, see Display Employee Information Card.
