Managing Product Types

To document product requirements and manage product type-level properties in your A/E firm's project, you can add, remove, and modify product type elements.

You can use the Project Elements pane in the project workspace to manage product types in your project specifications. Product type elements are available in both UniFormat® and MasterFormat®.

For more information, see Product Type.

Specpoint's design automation makes changes to a project's added product types based on the changes that you make to related elements. For example, when you add a product type element to a project, Specpoint adds the product type's parent family and assemblies to the project (if not already in the project). This ensures that you do not unintentionally create unparented project elements. In addition, this makes it easier for you to add and remove functional elements while maintaining your project's adherence to the content structure of Specpoint's assembly-driven approach.

For more information, see Design Automation for Project Elements.
