Add a Product Type

As an administrator or author, add a product type element to use as basis for determining the characteristics and properties of products for the project.

When you add a product type, multiple rules apply and Specpoint automatically makes adjustments to related project elements.

To add a product type to the active project:

  1. Open a project in the project workspace.
  2. In the project workspace, in the Categories pane, select a project category.
  3. In the Project Elements pane, filter the list of UniFormat or MasterFormat elements to use either format for your project.
  4. Select an unadded product type.
    An unadded product type displays in black or dark blue.
  5. In the element header, click Add to Project.
  6. If the product type is a manufacturer product type, read the warning message in the Add Product Type dialog box and click Continue.
    In the Project Elements pane, the product type displays in green to indicate its active state in the project. On the element form, the product type's content items are now available for modification.
