Insert Multiple External Paragraphs (New Workspace)

Insert multiple paragraphs from a third-party application, such as Microsoft® Word, to include large amounts of external content in your project element without needing to individually copy and paste each paragraph or import an entire section.

When you add or insert multiple paragraphs, multiple rules apply and Specpoint automatically makes adjustments to related contents.

For more information, see Addition of Element Contents.

To insert multiple external paragraphs:

  1. In the Elements panel of the new workspace, select an added family or section.
An added element displays in dark blue.
  2. On the new workspace editor, click one of the following tabs to select which part to edit:
    • Part 1 - General
    • Part 2 - Products
    • Part 3 - Execution
  3. In your selected part, locate the article in which to insert the paragraphs and click to expand the article.
  4. Locate and hover over the paragraph after which you want to insert the paragraphs.
Tip: To add a subparagraph to a given paragraph, add a new paragraph and demote the new paragraph as a subparagraph of the given paragraph.
  5. In the paragraph, click (Add Content).
A new paragraph with a paragraph number respective of its position displays.
  6. In the third-party application, such as Word, copy the paragraphs.
The copied paragraphs must follow the MasterSpec content structure.
Note: You must include the end of each paragraph. The end of a paragraph shows as a space when you highlight the text. Refer to the examples below:
    • Correct: Your selected content includes a space at the end of all paragraphs.

    • Wrong: Your selection ends exactly at the period or last character in the sentence. You did not include the space in your selection.

    • Use Pilcrows: You can display pilcrows (¶) to show the paragraph ends. This enables you to have a visible representation of the paragraphs ends, which may help with your selection.

  7. On the new workspace editor, click the new paragraph and paste the copied paragraphs.
To paste content, you can press CTRL+V or right-click and select Paste.
Specpoint converts each pasted paragraph into its respective paragraph.
  8. To save your changes, press ENTER or click another area of the new workspace.
