Rules and Automated Changes

Content Item Rules Automated Changes
All When you add any content item, the following rules apply:
  • You can add new articles and paragraphs only in an added and active project element.
  • You can add new articles and paragraphs only from content items that are active on the element form.
When you add any content item, the platform makes the following automated changes:
  • Specpoint adjusts the numbering of affected articles and paragraphs.
Performance Requirement You cannot add new performance requirements. None
Article When you add an article, the following rule applies:
  • For a given element tab or part under a family, section, or product type, you must enter a unique title for the new article.
When you add an article, the platform makes the following automated change:
  • Specpoint adds a placeholder paragraph under the new article.
Paragraph or Property Set When you add a paragraph or property, the following rules apply:
  • You can add a new paragraph only under an active article.
  • For a given article or parent paragraph, you must enter a unique property title/key for the new paragraph.
When you add a paragraph or property, the platform makes the following automated changes:
  • When you add a new paragraph in a family or section, Specpoint registers the new paragraph as a shared property and adds the new shared property/paragraph to the family's or section's child product types.
  • When you add a new paragraph in the first paragraph level of a product type, Specpoint registers the new paragraph as a shared property. This automated change does not apply in product type elements that have a manufacturer paragraph or BOD product paragraph on the first outline level.
  • When you add a new paragraph in the second paragraph level of a product type, Specpoint registers the new paragraph as a product type property.
