Select a Family (New Workspace)

Select a family element in the Elements panel to load its properties onto the editor of the new workspace for viewing and modification.

This selection enables you to perform actions with the family such as adding it to or removing it from the project.

To select a family:

1. Open a project in the new workspace.
2. In the new workspace, click (Elements Panel).
3. In the Elements panel, click Assemblies to use Assemblies view/UniFormat^®.
4. To quickly find an family, filter and/or search project elements:
   • Filter the list of elements by category.
   • Filter the list of elements by added to project.
   • Search for a family.
   These steps are optional.
5. Select the lowest-level assembly for your desired element tree path.
   The following assembly levels are available:

   • Assembly: Assembly Group
     • Assembly: Subassembly Group
       • Assembly: Subassembly Type

   For some element tree paths, a subassembly type is not available. Thus, the lowest-level assembly, which holds the families, is the subassembly group on the second level.

6. Under the subassembly, select a family element.
   You expanded the family and displayed its child product types.
