Contents of the Project Elements Pane

Use the contents in this pane to select workspace elements such as assemblies, families, and product types to add to or remove from your project.

Pane Contents

In this pane, the following items are available:

Item Description
Project Element Filter This label indicates the current project elements that the Project Elements pane displays.

To filter the project elements, click this label and select any of the following options:

Assemblies
  • All Project Elements: Shift to UniFormat (Assemblies view) and display all project elements.
  • Added to Project: Shift to UniFormat and display only project elements that are currently in the project.
  • Added to Work Results: Shift to UniFormat and display only project elements that are currently in the project and under the Work Results category.
Divisions
  • All Project Elements: Shift to MasterFormat (Divisions view) and display all project elements
  • Added to Project: Shift to MasterFormat and display only project elements that are currently in the project.
Project Elements This lists the following project elements based on the selected category, format, filter, and search criteria:

    • Assembly: Subassembly Group
      • Assembly: Subassembly Type

You can click a project element to select it as well as expand the element and show its child elements. This action also loads the element's content items onto the element form (except for subassembly groups, subassembly types, and divisions).

Project Elements

For each project element, the following information is available:

Information Description
Collapsed or Expanded Indicator This indicates whether you expanded or collapsed the project element. The following icons are available:
  • : This indicates that you collapsed the project element and hid its child elements.
  • : This indicates that you expanded the project element and displayed its child elements. Click this icon to collapse the project element and hide its child elements.
Title This indicates the name of the assembly, division, family, section, or product type.
Identifier This indicates the project element's type and code.

The following types are available based on your selected format:

Plus Icon This icon indicates that you selected the project element for quick add.
Element Menu Icon Click this icon () to the view the following menu options for the project element:
Option Description Shortcut
Select for Quick Add Select an element for quick add. Hold SHIFT and click element.
Select All for Quick Add Select an element and all its child elements for quick add. Hold CTRL and click element.
Remove from Quick Add Clear the selection for an element. Hold SHIFT and click element.
Version Control Select a version of the family/section, either the MasterSpec version or any of the published office master versions, to use as the baseline family content for your project.

This option is available only for families or sections that have at least one published office master versions.

You can click anywhere in a project element to expand the element and show its child elements. This action also selects the element.

Project Element Colors

The color of a project element indicates whether you selected the element and whether a project team member added the element to the project.

For most elements, the following colors are available:

These colors apply to the following elements:
  • Assemblies (Assembly Groups)
  • Families
  • Divisions
  • Sections
  • Product Types

Project Element Colors (Subassembly Group or Subassembly Type)

The color of a project element indicates whether you selected the element and whether a project team member added the element to the project.

For subassembly elements, the following colors are available:

Project Element Indicators

For project elements, the following indicators or icons are available:

Indicator Description Example
No Indicators The project element is in its default baseline state.
Quick Add Icon This indicates that you selected the project element for quick add.

Manufaturer Options Icon This indicates that the product type is a manufacturer product type.

PI Icon This indicates that the family is imported on the project level.

OM Icon This indicates that the family is based on a published office master family.
