Calculate Actual Activity Costs

Use this procedure to calculate actual costs for activities.

To calculate actual costs for activities:

1. Open the project for which you want to calculate actual activity costs.
2. Display the Resource Details dialog box for a resource assigned to the activity whose costs you want to calculate.
3. Ensure that the appropriate settings are selected or cleared:
   • Progress Based on Activity Progress: Selecting this option instructs Open Plan to calculate progress for the activity using an actual quantity of the cost resource. Clearing this option allows you to enter progress for an activity using an actual quantity of the cost resource.
   • Actual Cost Based on Progressed Quantity: Clearing this option allows you to enter progress for an activity using an actual cost of the cost resource.
4. Click Apply.
5. Display the Activity Progress dialog box for the activity whose costs you want to calculate.
6. Enter the appropriate progress information for the cost resource and click Apply.
7. On the Processes tab, click Cost Calculations.
8. In the Calculate Costs dialog box, select Actual Cost and click OK.
9. To view the actual costs for the activity, display the Cost tab of the Activity Information dialog box.
