Predecessor/Successor Search Dialog Box

Use this dialog box to search and select the predecessor/successor activity. When you add external relationships, they will only display in the Gantt chart after you save the change request.

A predecessor is an activity that the current activity depends on. Dates for the current activity are based on the dates set for the predecessor (previous) activity.

A successor is an activity that follows the current or selected activity. Dates for the successor are based on the dates set for the current activity.

You can also view the Activity ID, Description and other fields that you have defined in the Control Account Fields 1-3 and Work Package of the Fields Tab of the Project Form.

Show All Activities

When you click Insert on the Relationship tab, by default only the activities linked to the control account on the workflow form are displayed. To see all activities in the project, select this option.

This option is deselected by default and is disabled if you select an external subproject (below).

External Subproject

This field is available after you add an Open Plan master project on the Project Schedule Integration tab. Select the external subproject that includes the activity for which you want to add the relationship. The field lists all of the Open Plan projects within the master project, except for the project selected on the Projects form. After you select the external subproject, the external subproject activities display in the grid.

After you select an activity and click Select, the Activity ID column in the Change Details grid displays <project>.<activity ID>.

Save your changes to see the updated relationships in the Gantt chart.
