This topic includes links to help you set up PM Compass integration with Primavera P6 as well as notes specific to the P6 integration.
Deltek recommends that you schedule the integration for when no one is using P6. If a user is editing an activity and has not moved to a different activity, when the integration occurs, Primavera P6 performs a save and overwrites the progress that was pushed back into P6.
PM Compass uses periods in the activity to represent hierarchy, like a WBS. Primavera P6 allows you to put a period in an activity with no corresponding parent activity. Thus, PM Compass will translate periods in the activity ID to underscores. For example, an activity ID of 1.1.1 will translate to 1_1_1. If you are linking your Cobra work package to the activity and you have periods in your activity IDs, you need to copy the activity ID to a text field in Primavera P6 and add that field to User Defined Data as the activity ID. Without this information, you will not be able to see the activities linked to the Cobra work package in the Cost Analysis view, and so on.
PM Compass supports codes up to 255 characters. Although you can create a WBS or Resource ID that is longer than 255 characters; PM Compass trims the parent information to fit within the 255 characters.
On the Resources Tab of the Enter Schedule Progress Form, if you change the Remaining Quantity for an activity that has not yet started, Primavera P6 may change the budget. In Primavera P6 Project View, select the Calculations tab, and take note of the setting of the Link Budget and At Completion for not started activities option. If this option is deselected, the remaining quantity will not be linked to the budget, and the P6 project will match what is displayed in PM Compass. If this option is selected, selecting either the Reset Original Duration and Units to Remaining option or Reset Remaining Duration and Units to Original option determines whether the budget changes with the remaining quantity.
