Access Control to Dashparts Dialog Box

Use this dialog box to give users or groups access to your dashpart. As dashpart owner, you can decide whether to give other users access that enables them to add the dashpart to their dashboards, or access that allows them to modify the dashpart. If you do not want other users to modify the dashpart, you must select the Read-Only option in the grid. You can set up this option for individual users or for entire groups.

If access to a dashpart is given as read-only, you retain the ability to make changes to the dashpart and to distribute the changes to another user with whom you share the dashpart. Use the Access Control to Dashparts dialog box to distribute the changes.

If access to a dashpart is not given as read-only, the user with whom you share the dashpart can select it from the Hidden Dashparts dialog box and PM Compass then makes a copy of the dashpart. The other user is now the owner of the dashpart copy. This dashpart copy is associated with the dashboard currently selected by the other user. At this point, ties to the original dashpart are severed, but the original dashpart that you share with the other user still displays on that user's hidden dashpart list.

You can also use the Access Control to Dashparts dialog box to see which groups and users have access to your dashpart. You can also revoke access to shared dashparts this dialog box.

Dashboard access control always overrides dashpart access control therefore you only need to specify the access control for the dashboard. You do not need to also provide access control for the dashpart. For example, if the dashboard to which an archived report is added has WORLD access, all users are able to see the report, regardless of any access control that has been assigned to the report or the dashpart.
