A dashboard is a collection of dashparts, which you can configure to display alerts, application links, reports, workflows and Web pages, allowing you to view information that Access Control set elsewhere in the system, for example, on the Projects form.
You use Access Control in dashboard and dashparts to share these entities easily with other users and/or groups. However, you can only access and modify the Access Control under the following conditions:
If you are a member of the SYSADMIN group
If you are not a member of the SYSADMIN group, but your primary role indicates that you have access to the menu option in the EPM SA
If you are not a member of the SYSADMIN group, but you are the owner of the dashboards or dashparts
Click next to the Dashboard field to display the Dashboard Search dialog box, which contains a list of dashboards for which you are the owner. If you are a member of the SYSADMIN group, you can view all of the dashboards in the system.
After you select a dashboard, adding users and/or groups to the Access Control grid displays the selected dashboard in the Public Dashboards list for all users within the selected group. The WORLD group allows all users to see the dashboard. Selecting read-only for a row in the Access Control grid prevents these users or groups to change the content of the dashboard.
All dashboards that you own display under My Dashboards.
All other dashboards that you have rights to view display under Public Dashboards.
When a dashboard is marked read-only for you in the Access Control grid, you can modify dashparts (for example, resize, rearrange, and change color). Assuming that you are the owner of the public dashboard or dashpart (or member of the SYSADMIN group), when you make changes, display Access Control to Dashboard or Access Control to Dashparts dialog box and then click one of the Save buttons, any local changes in color, dashpart placement, and others are replaced with the new settings that you make.
Global searches are not part of the saved dashboard; they are applied on top of the saved settings and are remembered by user.
