Using the Help Search
  • Phrase:Returns all topics that contain the exact phrase in the search criteria. Use quotation marks around the phrase.
    Ex."system administration"
  • And:Returns all topics that contain all the words in the search criteria, in any combination. Insert a plus sign between all words in the search criteria.
    Ex.system + administration
  • Or:Returns all topics with any combination of words in the search criteria. This is the default.

Contents of the Import Preview Tab

Use the contents of this tab to preview the contents of an uploaded family or product type that you will import.

Navigate to the following contents:

General Options

The following general options are available:

Option Description
Project Element Name This displays the element number and name of the uploaded family or product type that you selected.
Expand All Click this button to expand all of the element's articles and show all of the articles' paragraphs and subparagraphs.
Collapse All Click this button to collapse all of the element's articles and hide all of the articles' paragraphs and subparagraphs.

Parts

For families, the following parts are available:

Tab Description
General Click the tab for this part to display the articles and paragraphs under the General part.

Typically, this part includes properties such as submittal requirements, quality assurance properties, and warranty options.

Products Click the tab for this part to display the articles and paragraphs under the Products part.

This part includes shared properties.

Execution Click the tab for this part to display the articles and paragraphs under the Execution part.

This part includes "installation requirements" and shared properties.

For product types, the following part is available:

Tab Description
Products Click the tab for this part to display the articles and paragraphs under the Products part.

This part includes only articles and paragraphs that are specific to the selected product type.

The contents of these parts vary based on the family or product type.

Element Contents

On the import preview tab, the following content items are available:

Item Description
Articles This is one or multiple articles, which organize paragraphs and property sets under a part in an element. The available articles depend on the uploaded family or product type.

For each article, the following icons are available:
  • : This indicates that you collapsed the article and hid its paragraphs. Click this icon expand the article.
  • : This indicates that you expanded the article and displayed its paragraphs. Click this icon collapse the article.
Paragraphs This is one or multiple paragraphs that make up your specification contents based on your project requirements. The available paragraphs vary depending on the uploaded family or product type.

Typically, a paragraph represents a property or describes a property, such as particular form or function, of a project element.

Notes to Specifier These notes provide MasterSpec or firm-level guidance that pertains to an article or paragraph in order to aid its review and modification.

In contrast to the element form in the project workspace, the import preview tab does not enable you to add, modify, and move articles and paragraphs.
