This chart compares the backlog amounts for fiscal periods for the organizations, project types, project managers, or customers that you select, in either a line chart or Mekko chart format. On the line chart, the actual backlog amounts for prior and current periods display as solid lines, and the budget or forecast amounts for future periods display as dashed lines. |
In this topicUser Options That Affect the Chart |
The default chart is a line chart, but you can use the Fast Change icon () in the chart title bar to display a Mekko chart.
Chart Item |
Description |
Horizontal axis: analysis period |
The horizontal axis displays the fiscal periods included in the analysis period. |
Vertical axis (line chart): current value |
For the line chart, the vertical axis displays the range of backlog amounts. |
Chart lines: backlog amount by organization, project type, project manager, or customer |
Each colored chart line represents backlog trend, over the analysis period, for an attribute. Actual backlog amounts display as solid lines, and budget or forecast amounts for future periods display as dashed lines. Use the Cycle button () next to the legend to break down backlog by organization, project type, project manager, or customer. |
Mekko bars: percentage contributions of to backlog by organization, project type, project manager, or customer |
Each Mekko bar represents 100 percent of backlog for that period. Thus, all bars are the same height. The relative width of the bars indicates how a period's total backlog compares to the total backlog for other periods on the chart. Each segment in a Mekko bar represents the percentage of the total backlog for the period contributed by that attribute (a project type, for example). Use the Cycle button () next to the legend to break down backlog by organization, project type, project manager, or customer. |

The following options on the User Options tab affect this chart:
Budget Type
Org or Reorg
For descriptions of how each option affects Backlog Analytics, see User Options That Affect Backlog.
By default, the Comparison chart displays the backlog amounts by top-level organization, but you have the option to display the data by any of the following:
Any organization level
Project type
Project manager

To change the view, do either of the following:
Right-click and select the view you want.
Click one or more times to cycle through the views until the one you want is displayed.
If you apply filters before you change the view, the chart only displays data for items that satisfy those filters. For example, if you select two project types in the Project Type list under Additional Filters and then use to display the backlog by project type, the chart only displays chart lines for those two project types.
See Filter the Analytics for more information.
After you select the view, you can select the associated time period. Use below the grid to select the length of time — Period, Quarter, or Year — for which you want to view the data.
If you apply filters before you change the view, the chart only displays data for items that satisfy those filters. For example, if you select two filters and then use to display by manager, the table only displays the manager for those employee attributes.
If the time period extends beyond the current period, the chart displays projections by including Baseline or Forecast data as a dotted line. This depends on the Budget Type option selected on the User Options tab.
Click at the top right of the chart to display the chart at its maximum size. Click to restore the chart to its original size and location on the tab.
