About Timesheet Daily Details in Timesheets in the Browser

You can use the Timesheet Daily Details feature in timesheets in the browser to track the following information:

  • Day start and Day end times

  • Meal breaks and rest breaks taken or opted out

  • Work location

  • Miscellaneous timesheet notes

This feature is designed for employees who need to track any or all of the above information. This feature needs to be enabled individually for each employee in > Setup > Employees > Time & Expenses tab.

When this feature is enabled for an employee, a clock icon () appears in the upper right-hand corner of the Timesheets window. Timesheet daily details can be entered for new timesheets created in the browser after the feature has been enabled for the employee. For older timesheets, employees will have the option to enter timesheet daily details.

In the Actions column in the Timesheet window, you can click Timesheet Daily Details Summary to view a summary of the entered start, end, meal break, and rest break data for the timesheet period.

You can also print timesheet daily details with a new option on the Timesheet report or with the new Timesheet Break Time widget base.

Rules for Editing and Submitting Timesheets

All existing rules for editing timesheets also apply to timesheet daily details. For example:

  • If a timesheet is submitted, entered timesheet daily details will be locked and you will not be able to edit them, with the exception of notes.

  • When a timesheet is deleted, all the related timesheet daily details information will also be deleted.

  • Once the feature is enabled, before submitting a timesheet, it is mandatory to either enter duration or select Opt Out for each break (depending on the number of meals and breaks selected from the drop-down). If those details are missing, you will receive an error.

  • If a timesheet has been unsubmitted, unapproved, or rejected, you will be able edit timesheet daily details again.

  • Supervisors and/or Accounting Managers will be able to edit break time on submitted timesheets if role access allows it.

  • Supervisors and/or Accounting Managers will not be able to edit break times if the timesheet has been approved.

Copying a Timesheet

When you copy a timesheet that has timesheet daily details entered, the following information is copied to the new timesheet:

  • Work Location

  • Number of Rest Breaks

  • Number of Meal Breaks

If you copy an existing timesheet that was created before the Timesheet Daily Details feature was available, you will still be able to enter break information on the copied timesheet.
