Delete a Validation Rule

This procedure allows you to delete a user defined validation rule.

You cannot delete a rule that has been assigned to a project. To check the list of projects or files to which the rule is assigned, click the References button in the User Defined Validation dialog box.

Note: If the validation rule that you want to delete is assigned to a project, you need to remove it from that project before you can proceed with the deletion. For more information, see Removing an Assigned Rule from a Project.

To delete a validation rule:

1. On the Tools tab, click User Validations.
2. From the list of rules in the User Defined Validation dialog box, select the rule that you want to delete.
3. Click Delete.
4. In the confirmation dialog box, click Yes.
   Note: If there are other items that are dependent upon the rule, Open Plan would not allow you to delete it. In this case, click OK.
