Field Description
Box Color

You can define the color that Open Plan should use for the code box lines as well as for any text that is displayed within the box by selecting from the following options:

  • Default: Selecting this option instructs Open Plan to use the default color.
  • Select Color: Selecting this option displays a Color dialog box that you can use to select a color. The Color dialog box offers a choice of 70 standard colors.

You can define custom colors using an enhanced version of the Color dialog box accessed from the Color tab of the Options dialog box.

If a color has already been defined for the box color but is not currently used, you can also select that color from the list.

Box Style

You can select a style for the code boxes from a list. Notice that one of the styles has a triangle at the lower-right corner. This triangle is displayed in the selected box color. If you add a note to a code, the code box for that code displays a second triangle that is always black.

Box Contents

You can display the entire code ID or just the local portion of each ID.

Box Size

The following options control the size of the code boxes:

  • Minimum Height: This option controls the minimum height of the code boxes in pixels. You can enter any value between 8 and 100. The default value is 30.
  • Minimum Width: This option controls the minimum width of the code boxes in pixels. You can enter any value between 20 and 200. The default value is 80.
Layout

You can choose between the following two layout options:

  • Spread: The way in which the spread layout option displays the code hierarchy depends on the General options you have selected.
  • Ladder: The way in which the ladder layout option displays the code hierarchy depends on the General options you have selected.
Compression

You can choose whether or not  to enable compression.

  • Uncompressed: When this option is selected, the structure may be easier to visualize but will take up more space.

  • Compressed: When this option is selected, space on the screen is conserved by placing individual codes belonging to one parent code in empty space under another parent code.

General

Depending on your layout choice, enabling one, none, or both of the general options gives you the following code hierarchy orientations:

  • Sideways: If selected, the hierarchy is displayed as illustrated.
  • Centered: If selected, the hierarchy is displayed as illustrated. This option also centers the display of the code hierarchy in relation to the display window.

Selecting both of the options displays the hierarchy using a combination of the rules. The display is centered in relation to the display window.)
