Assigning Ancillary Files to a Project
When you create a project using the New File Wizard, you have the option to assign ancillary files during the procedure.
If you create the project using Open Plan defaults, only the <Default> calendar is assigned. You must open the project in Exclusive mode when you assign an ancillary file.
Editing the Project Properties Dialog Box
Open Plan provides two ways in assigning ancillary files to an existing project:
- Using the Properties Dialog Box: In Open Plan Explorer, right-click a project and select Properties to display the Project Properties dialog box.
- Using the Files Tab: The Files tab features an ellipsis button next to each ancillary file field. Click this ellipsis to display a Select dialog box that you can use to specify the file to be assigned. If the ancillary file you want to assign does not yet exist, click New in the Select dialog box to create it.
Using Drag and Drop in the Open Plan Explorer
Dragging an ancillary file from the appropriate folder of the Open Plan Library and dropping it onto a project folder automatically assigns the file to the project.
Only one calendar file and one resource definition file can be assigned to a project at one time. If you drag a calendar or resource definition file from the Open Plan Library to a project that already contains a file of the same type, Open Plan asks whether you would like to replace the existing file.
When a resource definition file is assigned to a project, a link to the file displays in a project subfolder that has the same name as the resource file.
When one or more code files are assigned to a project, links to these files display in the Codes subfolder in Open Plan Explorer.
When a calendar file is assigned to a project, a link to that file displays in the project’s root folder.
When using drag and drop, the project is automatically opened when the ancillary file is dropped into it.
