  • Phrase:Returns all topics that contain the exact phrase in the search criteria. Use quotation marks around the phrase.
    Ex."system administration"
  • And:Returns all topics that contain all the words in the search criteria, in any combination. Insert a plus sign between all words in the search criteria.
    Ex.system + administration
  • Or:Returns all topics with any combination of words in the search criteria. This is the default.

Add-Ins Tab Overview

You can customize your installation of Open Plan to display up to 30 custom tools on the Add-Ins tab by modifying the Addins.dat file.

Note: The Add-Ins tab is not displayed until you have defined at least one custom tool.

An Addins.dat file may be located in two folders:

  • Modifying the copy of the Addins.dat file located in the same folder as the Open Plan executable file creates menu items that are accessible to all users of your data source. This copy of the Addins.dat file is installed by default.
  • Modifying the copy of the Addins.dat file located in your Open Plan User folder creates menu items that are accessible only to you. While this copy of the file is not installed by default, you can create it by copying the Addins.dat file located in the Open Plan executable folder and pasting it into your User folder.

You can add up to 30 custom tools to the Add-Ins tab in your installation of Open Plan by modifying either or both of these Addins.dat files.

For example, you can add an item to the Add-Ins tab that will start the WordPad program supplied with Windows. By making the required modification to the copy of the Addins.dat file located in the executable folder, all users of your data source will have access to this menu item.

You can also add an item to the Add-Ins tab that will start Outlook. Since your copy of Outlook may contain private information that you would not want everyone to see, you would make the required modifications to the Addins.dat file located in your Open Plan User folder.

If the program that you add is a DOS file, you may also need to create a .pif file that specifies the memory requirements.

Once you have added an item to the Add-Ins tab, you can execute the program it represents in any of the following ways:

  • By clicking it on the Add-Ins tab
  • By pressing the keyboard shortcut, if one has been defined for the item

You can also access the first nine items by pressing Ctrl+x where x represents a number key. To access the first custom tool on the list, you would press Ctrl+1. To access the second custom tool, you would press Ctrl+2, and so on.
