Use the Notes tab to extend the documentation for a particular control account, work package or activity. For example, you can document or view any technical requirements needed to complete a work package, risks for a control account, or detailed information about the activity.
You can also use notes on the activity to tell the scheduler what needs to be done, like creating a relationship to an activity in a different project. If you use Cobra or Open Plan, these notes can be viewed or reported on in those products.
See Add Note Categories to the Notes Tab for information and steps on adding additional note categories.
Activity notes are posted with the change request to a temporary project, or sandbox, until the change request to which the note belongs is approved. See Storing Change Request Data for more information on change requests and saving data.
This field displays the ID for the control account, work package, or activity you selected in the Change Details grid.
This field displays a description of the selected control account, work package, or activity.
This field displays the current status of the selected control account, work package, or activity: Planned, In-Progress, or Complete.
This drop-down field allows you to select a note category. The list changes depending on whether you have a control account, work package, or activity selected in the top grid.
Note categories allow you to segregate the text. For example, you might want to set up two categories of notes; one for information related to subcontractors and another for documenting changes in scope that occur over the course of a project.
Note categories that are added in user-defined data are displayed at the appropriate level:
CA notes at the CA level
WP notes at the WP level
Schedule activity notes at the activity level
To view the different note categories, select the appropriate category on the right of the tab. Since notes categories are defined separately for control accounts, work packages, and activities, you must first select the appropriate row in the grid portion of the Change Details view.
If you are not able to select a note category, it may not have been added in User-Defined Data. See Add Note categories for details.
