The Change Details View offers real-time, up-to-date planning on the control account, work package and activity levels and provides a very robust resource for managing every aspect of your project. Use Change Details to view schedule and cost data and other details associated with a budget or forecast change. A change could be as simple as modifying the resource assignments on a task, or as complex as creating new control accounts and work packages. When the request is approved, the workflow steps ensure that both the scheduling and cost tools are updated.
You can access the Change Details view from the Change Management area of the Navigation menu.
For each control account, work package, or activity selected on the Change Details grid, Deltek PM Compass displays several tabs that provide information such as time phased budgeted and forecasted resources.
All changes made to the Change Details grid and tabs are saved to a temporary project, or sandbox, until the request to which the change belongs is approved. You will not be able to view the change in the cost or schedule tool until the change request has been approved. See Storing Change Request Data for more information on saved data.
After saving your changes in the Form View, you can no longer edit the project and control account of the Change Request form.
Use the Change Details view to perform the following:
Insert, edit, or delete an activity or work package
Use the Change Details view to schedule data and other details associated with a budget or forecast change.
When a change request has Change Details included on the form and allows creating, editing, and deleting activities, the change can only be associated with a single project.
If the PM Compass project is associated with many Open Plan projects, you must select a control account on the form. In addition, all activities in the control account must come from one of the Open Plan projects.
If the selection on the form includes activities from more than one Open Plan project, the following error message displays when you click the Change Details button:
"The selected project and/or control account has activities coming from more than one Open Plan project. Your selections on the change request form must be associated with a single Open Plan project."
If your Open Plan project has external relationships to subprojects, they will not be visible in the Change Details view. Required changes to external information can be made in Open Plan after the change has been applied using the PM Compass Change Requests Add-In before approving the change request.
