Track an Employee's Time Using Whereabout Entry

If you have access to Finance & Administration and cross-company access to time entry, and you are also a time sheet approver, traffic manager, or employee manager, you can perform time tracking in behalf of an employee. The time that you enter for an employee's whereabout entry must match or exceed the time that they enter on their time sheet for the day.

Note: To track an employee's time using whereabout entry, time tracking must be activated by your system administrator in Settings.

To track an employee's time using whereabout entry:

  1. Take any of the following actions:
    • Go to Resources, select an employee in the main grid, click Resource Information /on the grid toolbar, and click Settings > Whereabout on the side toolbar of the employee card.
    • Go to Finance & Administration, click Cost Entry > Whereabout, and select an employee in the right pane.
  2. Click Add on the grid toolbar or side toolbar, depending on where you are in the user interface.
  3. In the Set Up a Whereabout Profile dialog box, enter the following information:
    • Type
    • Date
    • Start Time
    • End Time
    • Comment
  4. Click OK.
    If the time has been tracked properly, the employee's time sheet displays a green check mark for that date on the Weekly tab. This check mark is different from the check mark displayed for approved time entries.
