Assign a User to a License on the Licenses Form

Use this procedure to assign a user to an existing license from within the Licenses form.

To assign a user to license:

  1. In the Navigation pane, select Security > Licenses.
By default, Licenses Detail View displays.
  2. At the upper portion of the form, click to switch to the Licenses List View.
  3. On the Licenses List View, select the license that you want to update.
  4. Take one of the following actions:
    • On the Licenses List View, in the Assigned Users column of the selected license, click the number. Alternatively, you can click and select Assign Users.
    • On the Licenses Detail View (which you can access by clicking at the upper right part of the form), in the Assigned Users field, click the number.
  5. In the Assign Users dialog box, in the Available Users grid, select the user or users that you want to add to the license and click Add.
Note: If the user or users you are adding exceed the number of allowable licensed users, a warning message. Click OK.
  6. When you are done, click Save.
You can only assign each user to one license per product. When assigning a user to a product license for the first time, a temporary password will be sent to their registered email address as one-time access credential. If the user does not log in using their credentials, and later another user unassigns and then reassigns that user to the license, the user will receive the email again. Since the user has not logged in to the product yet, the system will consider them a new user.
Note: A valid license is required to assign users to a product, except for wInsight Analytics. The login process ensures that users can only access licensed products, enhancing security and compliance. If you try to assign users to a product without a license, whether by selecting it in the Add Product dialog box and clicking OK or by clicking Assign Users on the Product Details form, an error message displays, notifying you that the product does not have a valid license assigned.
