Master Production Scheduling Menu

Use Master Production Scheduling (MPS) Menu screens to generate and maintain rough-cut capacity plans, planned orders, MPS action messages, and forecast quantities. You can also convert planned orders into purchase requisitions, manufacturing orders, and transfer reservations.

Use these screens after defining MPS parameters in the MPS Controls menu and after establishing planning routings in the Planning Routings menu.

Menu Options

Generate Master Production Schedules—Generate planned orders and MPS action message reports for MPS planning-only parts. Costpoint checks supply and demand for all selected MPS parts, projects, companies, and warehouses.

Edit Master Production Schedules—View, add, change, or delete master production schedules for Costpoint parts. You can also add, change, or delete MPS planned orders for MPS planning-only parts and maintain MPS forecast quantities for non-MPS parts. Store planning MBOMs (Manufacturing Bills of Material) and forecasts for a product family of similar end items without knowing the exact part/configuration/options that will be sold.

Copy Master Production Schedules—Copy forecast quantities from a MPS plan, range of parts, range of inventory abbreviations, range of dates, and range of warehouses, to another plan or to copy prior forecasts to a future period.

Edit MPS Action Messages—View and implement MPS messages you created in the Generate Master Production Schedules screen.

Generate Rough-Cut Capacity Plan—Generate and report capacity usage of key resources for a selected MPS plan. You can run the capacity plan for the Production schedule or for any "what-if" plans you have generated. The plan is called "rough-cut" because it does not account for existing inventory, current manufacturing orders, current purchase orders, or requisition status. It accounts for only open, independent demand (sales orders, forecasts, and issue reservations).

Firm Planned Orders—Convert planned orders generated by the Generate Master Production Schedules or Edit Master Production Schedule screens into purchase requisitions, manufacturing orders, and transfer reservations.
