If your firm's accounting operations policies include segregation of duties, perhaps to comply with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002, or your firm otherwise requires that journal entries be approved, the authorized approvers in your firm must use this screen to select a journal entry and:
Approve it for posting, or
Reject it to allow for corrections.
If you launch this screen when the JE Approval feature has not been set up in the JE Approval Settings subtask of G/L Settings, you will receive a message that "JE approvals are not required in G/L Settings." Click OK to close the message dialog and screen.
If you are listed as an authorized journal entry approver in the JE Approver Settings screen of the General Ledger, you can access this screen.
If you are not listed as an authorized journal entry approver, you will receive a message that you are not authorized to approve journal entries. Click OK for read-only access to the screen.
This non-editable field displays the name of the currently logged-in user.
Enter the journal entry type, or click the drop-down list and select the type of journal entries you want to view for approval.
Click this button to populate the table with journal entries:
Entered as the selected JE Type
Entered by users listed in the Link Users subtask for this approver, in the JE Approver Settings screen
Entered by this approver, if self approval is allowed for this approver.
Costpoint populates this field with the journal entry's number when you click the Fill Table button.
Costpoint populates this field with the journal entry's amount when you click the Fill Table button. This is the higher of the debit or credit amount for the journal entry.
Costpoint populates this field with the journal entry's data entry date when you click the Fill Table button.
Click in this field and enter "Y" to approve this journal entry, "N" to reject it.
Costpoint populates this field with the journal entry's description when you click the Fill Table button.
Costpoint populates this read-only field when you click the Fill Table button.
Click this button to open the JE Detail subtask, where you can view journal entry line details.
This button is enabled if the journal entry's transactional currency differs from the company's functional currency.
Click this button to open the Exchange Rates subtask, where you can view the data entered in the Exchange Rate subtask of the Enter JEs screen for this journal entry.
