Ad Hoc Data Discovery: Quick Reference

If the other analytic tabs in Costpoint Analytics do not provide exactly the data you need, you can use the Ad Hoc Data Discovery tab to quickly create a table based on dimensions and metrics that you select.

You want to display revenue, cost, and profit for projects owned by your firm's top-level organizations, broken down by top-level performing organization to help you monitor and analyze cross-charges and contributions to your projects from other organizations.

By default, Costpoint Analytics does not enable you to analyze revenue, cost, and profit on the same tab. It also does not enable you to analyze data by both owning organization and performing organization simultaneously. However, you can do both on the Ad Hoc Data Discovery tab.

To analyze data for fiscal years...

To select one fiscal year, click that year.

To select more than one year, do either of the following:

Click the first year, hold down the mouse button, and drag the mouse pointer over the other years.

Click the first year, and then press CTRL as you click each of the other years.

To analyze data for selected fiscal quarters...

Select the fiscal year or years.
To select one quarter, click that quarter.

To select more than one quarter, do either of the following:

Click the first quarter, hold down the mouse button, and drag the mouse pointer over the other quarters.

Click the first quarter, and then press CTRL as you click each of the other quarters.

To analyze data for selected fiscal periods...

Select the fiscal year or years.
To select one fiscal period, click that period.

To select more than one period, do either of the following:

Click the first period, hold down the mouse button, and drag the mouse pointer over the other periods.

Click the first period, and then press CTRL as you click each of the other periods.

To select a single dimension...

Scroll the list to locate the dimension, or right-click the list and select Search to search for it.
Click the dimension.

To select multiple dimensions...

Scroll the list to locate the first dimension, or right-click the list and select Search to search for it.
Click the first dimension, and then press CTRL as you click each of the other dimensions.

You can also click each dimension without pressing the CTRL key. If you use this method, it is recommended that you pause after each selection to let the table update before you select the next dimension.

To deselect dimensions...

To deselect dimensions, click one or multiple selected dimensions, as described above.

To deselect all selected dimensions and measures, click on the main toolbar.

To select a single metric...

If necessary, scroll the list horizontally to locate the metric, or right-click the list and select Search to search for it.
Click the metric.

To select multiple metrics...

If necessary, scroll the list horizontally to locate the first metric, or right-click the list and select Search to search for it.
Click the first metric, and then press CTRL as you click each of the other metrics.

You can also click each metric without pressing the CTRL key. If you use this method, it is recommended that you pause after each selection to let the table update before you select the next metric.

To deselect metrics...

To deselect metrics, click one or multiple selected metrics, as described above.

To deselect all selected dimensions and measures, click on the main toolbar.
