Designing a financial statement
If
this is your first time using the Financial Statement Designer, set
security to define who can design and print financial statements.
To design a financial statement, follow these steps:
Step 1: Start the design
- Click Reports > Manage Financial Statements > Designs. A blank worksheet appears.
- If
you use a template, click the Open
button and select the template from the Financial Statement Design window.
Change the design
as needed.
- If
you do not use a template, then:
- Set up a statement title.
- Set up columns.
- Set up Amounts rows.
- Set up totals.
- Set up a cell as needed.
- Enter formulas as needed.
Step 2: Set global properties
- Set
up workbook properties.
- Verify the statement time period.
Step 3: Preview and refine the design
- While designing your statement:
- Preview tab constantly to
see the results.
- Click (Refresh) to update your information on the
Design and Preview
tabs.
- On
the Design tab, click the Print button. The Print Preview window
appears, showing how the statement breaks over multiple pages. If you
want:
Step 4: Finish the design
- Double-click
the worksheet subtab and name the design (for example, Profit and Loss
Statement).
- Click Save
or Save As to save the workbook.
The workbook appears in the Financial Statement Design window for all
employees with security access to it.
- If you want to create another
design, do one of the following:
- Click
(Insert Worksheet subtab) in the workbook and repeat these instructions.
- Click the New
button to create a new workbook and repeat these instructions.
- Click
Close.
