Skills (Edit Tab)

The skills feature of Open Plan allows you to schedule a resource that can perform different jobs.

It also allows you to specify a certain skill as a requirement for an activity. For example, JANE is a drafter, MARY is a mechanical engineer who can also draft, and FRED is an electrical engineer who can also draft. If a certain activity requires a skill of drafting, either JANE, MARY, or FRED could be assigned to that activity.

The Skills dialog box displays a list of skills currently included in the resource file. Skills can represent any attribute of a resource that is useful as a way of finding or identifying a resource. They can be software coding languages, equipment capacities like a 48-inch lathe vs. a 60-inch lathe, or languages the employees speak.

Buttons across the bottom of the dialog box allow you to add new skills to the list, edit existing skills, or delete skills from the list.
