Microsoft Project Import Wizard
Use the Microsoft Project Import Wizard to import Microsoft Project data into Open Plan.
You can import an .mpp file from Microsoft Project (Standard or Professional) or a Microsoft Project Server (PWA) project.
Note: You must
have Microsoft Project installed on your machine in order to import an .mpp
file. You do not need Microsoft Project installed on your machine to import a
Project Server (PWA) project.
The Microsoft Project Import Wizard includes the following pages:
- Project Page: Use this page to select the Microsoft Project schedules to be imported.
- Options Page: This page displays different options, depending on whether you choose to import into a new Open Plan project from Microsoft Project or update an existing Open Plan file.
- Project Selection Page: This page displays only if one or more of the projects you are importing contain(s) external subprojects. It does not display if the project is a stand-alone project.
- Master Project Name Page: Use this page to create the master project that will contain the projects you selected and inter-project relationships associated with those projects. It displays only if one or more of the projects you selected on the Project Selection page contain inter-project relationships.
- Validate Files Page: Use this page to validate Open Plan files and fix any warnings or errors that may occur. In addition, if desired, you may change default names given for the project(s) and ancillary files. You cannot continue with the import process until all problems have been resolved.
- Import Complete Page: This page displays at the end of the wizard and lets you know whether the import completed successfully, completed with errors, or was aborted.
