Import an MSP File

Use this procedure to import a Microsoft Project file.

To import a Microsoft Project file:

  1. On the Integration tab, in the Import group, click MS Project to launch the Microsoft Project Import wizard.
  2. On the Project page of the Microsoft Project Import Wizard, click the ellipsis button to the right of the Project File field.
    Microsoft Project starts if it is not already open, and the Open dialog box displays.
  3. In the Open dialog box, navigate to and select the MPP file(s) to open and then click Open.
    The path and file name of the selected file displays in the Project File field.
  4. Click Next.
  5. On the Options page, select the options for the imported files and click Next.
  6. If the project that you want to import contains external relationships that require additional projects to be imported, select the project(s) that you want to import on the Project Selection page that displays and click Next.
  7. If the projects that you selected contain inter-project relationships, enter a name for the master project in the Master Project Name field of the Master Project Name page that displays and click Next.
  8. Correct any warnings or errors that display on the Validate Files page and click Finish.
    Open Plan imports the project.
  9. When the Import Complete page displays, click View Log to read the import log or click Close to exit the wizard.
