Contents of the Update Baseline Dialog Box
Use the fields and options to configure the Update Baseline dialog box.

| Field | Description |

| Name |
This field displays the name of the baseline for reference. This is not editable. |
| Description |
This field displays the description of the baseline. |
| Based On |
This field is for reference only. You cannot change this field for an existing baseline. |
| Ignore Progress, Use Original Project Start Date |
Select this option to create baseline dates by performing a time analysis from the project start date. This option is not available when the baseline is based on Schedule Dates. |
| Use Baseline of Same Name on External Subprojects |
This option is for reference only and is selected if the Use Baseline of Same Name on External Subproject option was selected when this baseline was created. |
| Update External Subproject Baselines |
This option is enabled only if the Use Baseline of Same Name on External Subprojects option was selected when this baseline was created. If this option is selected, in order for the external subproject baselines to be updated, Update Master in the Baseline Access Control dialog box for each of the external subprojects to be updated must be set to Yes. |
Filter

| Filter |
You can specify a filter to limit the baseline update to a defined group of activities. To limit the scope of the operation, you can either select an existing filter or click the ellipsis button to display a dialog box where you can create a filter. For more information about defining filters, see Filters. |
| Exclude In-Progress Activities |
If selected, this option excludes in-progress activities from being updated. |
| Exclude Completed Activities |
If selected, this option excludes completed activities from being updated. |
| Update Activities Already in Baseline |
This option enables you to control the action that Open Plan should take for activities already in the baseline that you are updating.
In addition, selecting this option enables the following options:

Planned Activities

| Use Resource Remaining Quantity Instead of Budget Quantity |
For Planned Activities, this option creates baseline activity resource requirements from the remaining resource requirements instead of the budget resource requirements for activities that are not in-progress or complete. This option is not available when the baseline is based on Schedule Dates. |

Buttons
The table below provides information about the buttons in this dialog box.
| Button | Description |
|---|---|
| Preview | After you make changes in this dialog box, you can preview your changes before they are applied to the project. When you click the Preview button, Open Plan runs through the updates that would be made with the options you have selected and displays a Review Baseline Changes dialog box that includes activities that would be added, deleted, and updated. |
| Continue | Click this button to have Open Plan make the changes, or go back to the Baseline Update dialog box to change the options or to continue with the update. |
