Linking Activities

Use this procedure link activities in Open Plan.

If relationships already exist between the selected activities, Open Plan would not allow you to modify the existing relationships.

Note: You can also use the Add Relationship dialog box to define relationship between activities.

To link activities:

  1. In Open Plan Explorer, open an activity spreadsheet, a resource or an activity barchart, or a network view.
  2. Select the activities or tasks to which you want to add relationships.
  3. Take one of the following actions to display the Link/Unlink Activities dialog box:
    • From the Edit tab, of the activity spreadsheet, resource or activity barchart, or network views, select Link/Unlink Activities. This option only becomes enabled when you select two or more activities.
    • From the context menu of an Activity spreadsheet, a resource or an activity barchart, or a network view, select Link/Unlink Activities.
    When you use Ctrl + Click to select and link activities, Open Plan links the activities in the order in which you selected them.
  4. Select or enter necessary information.
  5. Click Link.
    Open Plan then creates the relationship between the selected activities using the relationship type, lag, and calendar that you specified on the dialog box.
Note: Open Plan displays all errors that occur when linking activities on the Link/Unlink Activities Errors dialog box after the process completes.
