Only the options that are appropriate for the file format that you select in the File Format field are enabled on this tab.

General Fields

Field Description
Saved Options If you or other users previously saved global or personal settings for this tab (using the Organize button on this tab), click beside this field to select a set of saved settings. These settings prefill on the tab, which saves you the time of manually entering them again each time that you want to generate a certain tax file. From the drop-down list in the Saved Options field, you can select settings from a Global Options folder or a Personal Options folder.
Organize Click this button to open the Organize Options dialog box and save the settings that are currently entered on this tab for future use. Later, when you want to generate the tax file again, you can select the saved settings from the Saved Options field.
Default Click this button if you modified the settings on this form and you want to return them to the original default settings.
File Format From the drop-down list, select the file format for the tax file that you want to generate.
Options are:
  • Belgium - Intra EU Community XML
  • Belgium Client Listing XML
  • Belgium VAT Declaration XML
  • German ELSTER File
  • UK VAT Return

After you select a file format, only the appropriate fields that apply for that format are enabled on the General tab.

Tax Code Select the tax codes to include in the file. The default entry in this field is <all tax codes>. Use the Tax Code lookup to select the tax codes to include in the file. Only tax codes with an Active status are included on the lookup.
Cash Basis Reporting This checkbox is available only if the Cash Basis Reporting checkbox is selected in Settings > General Ledger > Options. Select this option to generate the tax file with cash-basis accounting amounts.

Time Frame Section

Field Description
Time Frame
Select one of these options to specify the time frame for data included on the report.
  • Current Period: The report shows data for the active accounting period.
  • Year to Date: The report shows data for the current fiscal year through the active accounting period.
  • Range of Periods: The report shows data for a range of accounting periods that you specify.
  • Range of Dates: The report shows data for a date range that you specify. Vantagepoint examines transactions within the specified date range, regardless of the period in which the transactions were posted or the dates of the current active period. Enter the start and end dates, or click the calendar icons to select the dates. When you select Range of Dates, select the tax date for AP vouchers to use in the AP Vouchers Use section.
    • Invoice Date: Include all AP vouchers with an invoice date within those dates.
    • Voucher Date: Include all AP vouchers with a voucher date within those dates

When you select the Belgium - Intra EU Community XML file format and you do not select the Cash Basis Reporting checkbox, the maximum amount of time that you can enter in the Range of Periods or Range of Dates field is 60 months. If you enter more than 60 months, you will receive an error.

AP Vouchers Use Section

Field Description
AP Vouchers Use Select Voucher Date or Invoice Date to determine which date to use as the Tax Point Date in the tax file. If you enter the tax point date into the Voucher Date field and use a Time Frame selection of Range of Dates, you might capture different AP Voucher transactions for your tax reporting purposes.

The options that display on the remaining sections of the General tab vary depending on your File Format selection. See the Related Topics below.
