Schedule the Creation of Progress Entries

Use the Scheduling tab in Workflow Type Configuration to schedule the creation of progress entries with a reoccurring scheduled alert that runs daily. You need to schedule the creation of progress entries, regardless of whether or not you choose to automatically create progress entries, because this process advances the Period End Date.

To schedule the creation of progress entries:

  1. On the Navigation menu, click Administration ยป Workflow Type Configuration.

  2. On the Workflow Type Configuration form, click in the Search field.

  3. On the Workflow Type Search dialog box, select the Progress type and click the Select button.

  4. On the Form View toolbar, click the Scheduling tab.

  5. Define the schedule for creating cost or schedule entries by entering the necessary information in the Create Cost Progress Entries group box or the Create Schedule Progress Entries group box.

    Since the alert checks to see if today is the day progress entries are created for a project, Deltek highly recommends scheduling the Progress entries to reoccur every day. You do this on the Recurrence tab of the Schedule dialog box.

    In addition, it is helpful to schedule the alert to run early in the morning, for example, 2:00am. This ensures that entries are created at the start of the workday and system resources are used when users are not on the system.

  6. Click Save.
