Integrating with Microsoft Excel

You can export time-phased budget or forecast data from the Change Details view to an Excel spreadsheet for editing, and then import budget or forecast data from a spreadsheet back into the Change Details view. You export the sandbox project data using a pre-configured Cobra report, make edits, and import the data as a new or changed amount.

You first need to define the report that will be exported. Then, you specify that report on the Change Details on Form tab of Workflow Type Configuration. When you enter the report in Workflow Type Configuration, the Cobra Export Report field displays in the Workflow Form view. Clicking the button runs the report defined here. The report is generated based on the sandbox project, so only the information in the sandbox project is exported and contained in the report.

If you want to import data into the sandbox project, you can use Cobra's integration using a single import file.

See Step 3: Configure an Import File Integration Configuration in Cobra for more details.

The import file must have New or Change Amount data and must be only Cobra data. You cannot import activity nor activity resource assignment data. If there are resource assignments on the activity, schedule integration will overwrite any work package costs. The New or Change Amount option is useful when importing material costs when there are not activities linked to the work package. After the data is imported, you should check the Workflow form to view the Cobra process log of the import. You can also view the cost change log to see the entries for what changed during the import.
