You can schedule an alert to run at regular intervals (for example, daily) to determine if today is equal to or greater than the day that Explanation of Variances need to be created. The determination is based on today’s date and the status date of the project.
If, for example, you schedule the Explanation of Variance (EoV) process to occur daily, the system will check each project daily to see if today is equal to or greater than the project's status date. If it is, the system then figures out if thresholds have been exceeded. If they have, an Explanation of Variance is created for each control account that exceeds the thresholds as defined on the Thresholds tab. If there are no thresholds defined for the selected code file, no EoV's are created.
To schedule the automatic creation of EoV's:
Use the Scheduling Tab of Workflow Type Configuration to set a schedule for Explanation of Variances.
Select the Automatically Create Explain Variance Workflows option on the Thresholds tab to include the selected project in the scheduled creation process.
