Use the Navigation menu to navigate through an application by selecting the feature that you want to access. It has several menu options that you can edit using the Navigation Menu Designer dialog box.
The options in the Workflows panel are based on the order established in the Workflow Category list table and whether or not there are workflow types on the menu that you can view.
The options listed in the Dashboard panel are based on the following:
Whether or not you have any personal Dashboards that display on the Navigation menu
Whether or not you have access to any Dashboards
The alphabetical order of the Dashboard names
Selecting a menu option from the Navigation menu displays the corresponding form in the right pane. Some options, however, display the associated Web site, file, or report in another window.
The Navigation Menu Designer dialog box allows you to perform the following tasks:
Any addition, deletion, or reorganization of options on the dialog box in PM Compass reflects in the options tree on the PM Compass tab in Roles form of Deltek EPM Security Administrator. The EPM SA, however, does not know the tree structure applied to PM Compass.
When you add a menu option (for example, New Node) to the PM Compass Navigation menu (for example, General Import and Export), the new option displays under the Custom Navigation menu option on the Roles form of the EPM SA. By default, the added option has the Visible and Enabled types of access.
If you change the access type of a parent level menu option (in our example, General Import and Export) to Invisible and Disabled, all menu options under that node also become Invisible and Disabled. The New Node menu option under Custom Navigation, however, remains Visible and Enabled. When users with this role log on to PM Compass, they do not see the General Import and Export options, which include the added New Node.
The term "node" is interchangeable with the term "menu option."
Top — Top level parent menu options are those options that display in the panels. Top level menu options are the highest type of parent menus. They do not have actions associated with them; they are just used as "containers" for other parent and child levels.
Parent — Parent level menu options are those options that have children or sub-level menus under them. A parent level menu has an expand symbol to the left of it.
Children — Children level menu options (also referred to as leaf nodes) or sub-level menu options are those options that display under a parent level menu option.
Sibling — Sibling level menu options are those options that are on the same level.
