Use the Dashpart Configuration dialog box to add a dashpart to a dashboard.
Access Control
After you create a dashpart, use the Access Control to Dashparts dialog box to give users or groups access to your dashpart. See Configure Access Control to Dashparts for more information.
Dashparts provide access to specific records, Web links, reports, activities, and applications. You can access any dashpart without affecting your other dashparts.
Dashpart Type |
Description |
Alerts |
The Alerts dashpart displays alerts generated by workflows, as well as scheduled and user-initiated alerts. You can display alerts that may or may not be related to workflows. The workflow steps generate alerts when an action is assigned to you. Alerts, such as reminder and notices, are generated using scheduled alerts. Adding an Alerts dashpart to your dashboard provides information about your tasks that need immediate attention. In addition, most alerts have hyperlinks that enable you to navigate to the workflow or task that needs your attention. When an Alerts dashpart is added to a public dashboard and you are viewing that dashpart, PM Compass displays only the alerts intended for you. When you click on an alert, the alert is removed from the list. To remove alerts that you no longer need, click the dashpart name and click Clear Records from the drop-down menu. |
Applications |
The Applications dashpart provides you with quick access to your most commonly used PM Compass applications, such as Projects, Workflows, Reports, and Administration. See Example of an Applications Dashpart for an example of an Explanation of Variance dashpart. |
Cost Analysis |
Create a Cost Analysis dashpart to view cost analysis information for your projects on your dashboard. This dashpart displays the same information displayed in the Cost Analysis grid of the Cost Analysis View. The Cost Analysis dashpart displays information only if you have selected a project. Once you select a project, this dashpart displays the control account information. This dashpart includes a barchart. The bar set that displays is the one selected in the Project Form View on the Schedule Integration tab in the Bar Set field. |
Deltek eSupport Alert |
The Deltek Support Alerts dashpart provides you with access to the Deltek Customer Care web site. |
The web (File, FTP, HTTP) dashparts allow you to create individual Uniform Resource Locator (URL) dashparts for your Dashboard.
When you add a web dashpart (File, FTP, HTTP), PM Compass displays the URL the same way as it displays in Microsoft Edge. For example, if you add a File dashpart and select an Excel file on your local computer, the dashpart displays the message: โNavigation to the webpage was canceledโ and a dialog displays asking if you want to save or open the file, or cancel the request. Make sure that the URL you select is accessible to whomever will access it. Every user with whom you share the web dashpart link must have their own network access and security rights to the URL. For example, if you enter an address for a file on your local computer, other users may not be able to access it because they won't have access to your machine. Another example is if you share the folder on a file server in your network. you will have to ensure that other users have the proper network permissions to access the file. |
|
Links |
The Links dashpart provides you with one-click access to your frequently used web sites, email addresses, and documents. It contains one or more links to HTTP, FTP, Mail, Newsgroup, and File โ and in any combination. For example, you can have Cobra run regular reports and place them on a server, then link to them from the Links dashpart for easy access. |
Report |
A report dashpart allows you to preview a single report. Selecting this dashpart type enables the Report group fields. See Report/Report Links Dashpart Process for more information about setting up a report dashpart and adding access control. |
Report Links |
Use Report Links to create a dashpart containing a link to selected global and personal saved reports or to all global and personal saved reports to which you have access. This provides easy access to multiple reports directly from the dashboard without requiring you to access them via the report menu. Each time you click a link, the report generates in a Preview form popup window. Selecting this option enables the Links and Report Links fields. See Report/Report Links Dashpart Process for more information about setting up a report links dashpart and adding access control. |
Schedule Analysis |
Create a Schedule Analysis dashpart to view schedule analysis information for your projects on your dashboard. This dashpart displays the same information displayed in the Schedule Analysis grid of the Schedule Analysis View. The Schedule Analysis dashpart displays information only if you have selected a project. After you select a project, this dashpart displays the activity information. This dashpart includes a barchart. The bar set that displays is the one selected in the Project Form View on the Schedule Integration tab in the Bar Set field. |
Shared Report Archive |
Select this type to add a report archive dashpart to your dashboard. When you select this option, the Shared Report Archive drop-down list includes a list of your archived reports as well as a list of the archived reports that have been shared with you. See Sharing Report Archives for more information. |
Tips |
The Tips dashpart provides useful information about PM Compass. Tips include time-saving shortcuts and information regarding new features. A new tip appears each time you access your Dashboard or refresh this dashpart |
|
|

The Workflows dashpart displays Explain Variance, Work Authorization, To-Do, Change Management, Progress and Risk, together with information such as status, due date, and action required. You can click the link on the dashpart to display the workflow and perform the required actions or enter information. When you add a workflow dashpart to your dashboard and select a master project in the Global search, all of the workflows with projects that are in the master project display. If you selected Links, clicking this button displays the Configure Links dialog box which you can use to select links to HTTP, FTP, File, Mail, and Newsgroup sites.
If you selected Report Links, clicking this button displays the Add Reports dialog box which you can use to select links to personal and global saved reports in PM Compass. The dialog box lists all saved global and personal reports to which you have access and that have not already been selected to be displayed in a dashpart. A saved report is one that you have customized (changed the report options and saved under another name) or one that someone else has customized and to which you have access. You cannot add standard (original) reports as report links.
If you want the dashpart to display all saved reports to which you have access, then do not select any reports. See Report/Report Links Dashpart Process for more information about displaying selected vs. all saved reports, setting up a report links dashpart, and adding access control.
After you select the report links in the Add Reports dialog box, the number of reports selected displays in this field.
Use this group box to create a File, FTP, or HTTP dashpart.

Use this field to select the report archive that you want to display on the dashpart. The list of available reports includes your archived reports as well as any custom archived reports (when a standard report is saved with a new name) that have been shared with you. Standard archived reports can only be seen in this list by the person who created them regardless of whether the user assigned WORLD access or specific user access.
This option is only available when the Shared Report Archive dashpart type is selected in the Dashpart Type field.
Select this option if you want to display the latest version of the report each time you select the dashboard containing the Report dashpart.
If this option in unchecked, the dashpart will create a report archive and will use it when displaying the report dashpart. The report archive created is valid for 24 hours and can only be used by the user who is currently logged in. If the report dashpart is also published to other users, it will just create another archive report for other users if it is not yet available.
Select this option to hide the Reporting toolbar for a web dashpart. This is useful for providing extra space on reports that contain graphs. You must log out and back into PM Compass for the change to take effect.
