General Tab

Use this tab to specify the opportunity number and short description, and to enter information for contracts, agencies, and business units that you want to link to the opportunity.

Opportunity Info

Use this group box to indicate the opportunity number and short description.

Field Description
Number Enter the opportunity's identifying number from its source. If the opportunity is imported from GovWin IQ, this field defaults to the GovWin IQ opportunity number, but you can change it.
Short Description

Enter the short description for the opportunity. You can enter a longer description on the Details/Addresses tab.

If the opportunity is imported from GovWin IQ, this field defaults to the GovWin IQ opportunity short description, but you can change it.

Created By

This field displays the user ID of the person who created the opportunity record. You cannot edit this field.

The unlabeled field to the right displays the date when the record was created. This field is also not editable.

If this opportunity record was imported from GovWin IQ, these fields display the user ID of the person who marked the opportunity record in GovWin IQ for transfer to Costpoint, and the date that the record was imported into Costpoint.

Modified By

This field displays the user ID of the person who last modified the opportunity record. You cannot edit this field.

The unlabeled field to the right displays the date when the record was last modified. This field is also not editable.

Opportunity Roles

Use this group box to specify your company's role on the opportunity and the prime contractor that you want to associate with the opportunity.

Our Role/Responsibility

Enter, or click to select, the role or responsibility that your company has on the opportunity. Valid values are only those that exist on the Manage Opportunity Company Responsibilities screen. Codes that display in the lookup have the Show in Lookup check box selected in Manage Opportunity Company Responsibilities. Only codes that are available in the lookup can be used for new records in Manage Opportunities.

The unlabeled field to the right displays the description of the role/responsibility code.

Prime Contractor

Enter, or click to select, the customer ID or the prospective customer ID of the prime contractor associated with the opportunity. The unlabeled field to the right displays the customer/prime contractor name.

Type This field displays either Customer or Prospective Customer.

Contract Information

If you are awarded the opportunity, use this group box to specify the master contract number and other general information about the contract associated with the opportunity. The opportunity can be linked to different contract IDs on the Manage Contracts screen. You can view contract records related to the opportunity on the Contracts subtask.

Field Description
Contract Role/Type

Enter, or click to select, the type of the contract to be linked to the opportunity. Valid values are only those that exist on the Manage Opportunity Contract Types screen. Codes that display in the lookup have the Show in Lookup check box selected in Manage Opportunity Contract Types. Only codes that are available in the lookup can be used for new records in Manage Opportunities.

The unlabeled field to the right displays the description of the contract type.

Prime Contract No

Enter the prime contract number of the contract to be linked to the opportunity. This is the number of the signed contract with the customer.

If you have parent-child contract records, the value in this field serves as the parent and the Task Order No value serves as the child. This is important when you want to link Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) and Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA) type contracts to contracts awarded under these higher-level types of contracts.

In the unlabeled field to the right, enter the description of the prime contract number.

Master Contract No Enter the master contract number if the opportunity is work that your company is competing for under an indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract (IDIQ) or similar "master" contract.
Task Order No

Enter the task order number linked to the opportunity.

If you have parent-child contract records, the value in this field serves as the child and the Prime Contract No value serves as the parent. This is important when you want to link IDIQ and BPA type contracts to contracts awarded under these higher-level types of contracts.

Other Contract No Enter any other contract number associated with the opportunity.
Subcontract No Enter the subcontract number (the number on the signed contract with the subcontractor) associated with the opportunity.
Contract Vehicle

Enter, or click to select, a contract vehicle. Valid values are only those that exist on the Manage Contract Vehicles screen. Codes that display in the lookup have the Show in Lookup check box selected in Manage Contact Vehicles. Only codes that are available in the lookup can be used for new records in Manage Opportunities.

The unlabeled field to the right displays the description of the contract vehicle.

Primary Work Location Enter the primary location where the work is to be performed by the contractor.

Prospect

Use this group box to specify the primary and acquisition agencies, customers, and contacts as well as the lead customer and contact that you want to associate with the opportunity.

Primary Agency

Enter, or click to select, the primary agency that you want to assign to the opportunity. Valid values are only those that exist on the Manage Agencies screen. Codes that display in the lookup have the Show in Lookup check box selected in Manage Agencies. Only codes that are available in the lookup can be used for new records in Manage Opportunities.

The unlabeled field to the right displays the description of the agency.

Primary Customer

Enter, or click to select, the primary customer that you want to associate with the opportunity. Both customers and prospective customers are allowed in this field.

The unlabeled field to the right displays the customer or prospective customer name.

Type This field displays either Customer or Prospective Customer.
Primary Contact Enter, or click to select, the contact for the primary customer. The unlabeled field to the right displays the contact name.
Acquisition Agency

Enter, or click to select, the acquisition agency that you want to assign to the opportunity. Valid values are only those that exist on the Manage Agencies screen. Codes that display in the lookup have the Show in Lookup check box selected in Manage Agencies. Only codes that are available in the lookup can be used for new records in Manage Opportunities.

The unlabeled field to the right displays the description of the agency.

Acquisition Customer

Enter, or click to select, the acquisition customer that you want to associate with the opportunity. Both customers and prospective customers are allowed in this field.

The unlabeled field to the right displays the customer or prospective customer name.

Type This field displays either Customer or Prospective Customer.
Acquisition Contact Enter, or click to select, the contact for the acquisition customer. The unlabeled field to the right displays the contact name.
Lead Contact Enter, or click to select, the lead/contact related to the opportunity. Only those leads/contacts that exist on the Manage Leads and Contacts screen are available for entry/selection. The unlabeled field to the right displays the lead/contact name.
Type This field displays Leads and Contacts.

Responsible Business Unit and Managers

Use this group box to identify the business unit and organization that you want to assign to the opportunity.

Field Description
Business Unit

Enter, or click to select, the business unit that you want to assign to the opportunity. Valid values are only those that exist on the Manage Business Units screen.

The unlabeled field to the right displays the business unit description.

Organization

Enter, or click to select, the organization that you want to assign to the opportunity. If you do not specify a business unit or if there are no organizations linked to the business unit, you can enter or select any organization that belongs to your company and exists in the ORG table.

The unlabeled field to the right displays the organization name.

Business Unit Lead

Enter, or click to select, the business unit lead employee. The unlabeled field to the right displays the employee name.

By default, only employees with a status of Active are displayed in the lookup, but you can manually enter employees with a status other than Active. You can also use the Status query condition option on the Query tab of the Query dialog box of this field to search for employees with other statuses.
