Manage Codes Tab

Use the Manage Codes tab in the Costing Codes submodule in the Settings module to create, edit, enable or disable, and delete codes.

Columns

Note: The information in this tab is read-only.
Column Description
Code Displays the costing code.
Note: The values in this column are also displayed in the following areas im the Costing Code column:
  • List View tab in Tasks > To-Do > Tasks
  • Week View tab in Tasks > To-Do > Tasks
  • Scheduling > Schedule Overview > Task Matrix
  • Details subgrid in Scheduling > Schedule Overview > Weekly Schedule

Description Displays the code description, if provided.

Active Indicates whether the costing code is active or inactive.
Level Indicates the costing code the level type.
Parent Displays the level 1 costing code that is associated with a level 2 (child) costing code. The cell is blank for level 1 costing codes.
Allow use on tasks Indicates whether the costing code is enabled for use on tasks.
Last change by Displays the name of the resource that made the most recent change to a costing code.
Last changed Displays the date on which the last change was made.

Create New Costing Code Dialog Box

Field Description
Code Enter a costing code. The costing code must be unique and can include alphanumeric characters, underscores, and dashes.
Description Enter a description for the costing code.
Level Select a level type. This drop-down list displays the predefined level types:
  • Level 1: You can use this option for jobs or jobs and tasks.
  • Level 2: This option requires a parent code and can only be used on tasks.
Use Select the element or elements on which the costing code can be used. This field is present only if you selected Level 1 in the Level field.
Parent Select a parent code. This drop-down list displays user-supplied parent codes. This field is present only if you selected Level 2 in the Level field.
