Workflow for Creating and Linking Employees Between Vision and TrafficLIVE

Employees can be linked between Vision and TrafficLIVE when you run the TrafficLIVE web service.

The following table provides the workflow for creating and linking employees between Vision and TrafficLIVE:

Step Description Location/Notes
1. In Vision, create new employees.

In Vision, enter new employees in the Employee Info Center (Info Center > Employees).

On the General tab, you must enter:

  • A first and last name for the employee.
  • An email address that is unique and not used for any other employee.
  • A status of Active in the Status field.
2. In Vision, run the TrafficLIVE web service to send new employee records to TrafficLIVE.

Before you run the TrafficLIVE web service to send new employees from Vision to TrafficLIVE, you must configure the organization mapping for location and department on the Mapping tab of the TrafficLIVE Web Service utility.

To run the TrafficLIVE web service:

  1. In Vision, click Utilities > Advanced Utilities > TrafficLIVE Web Service.
  2. In the Send to TrafficLIVE section of the General tab:
    1. Select the Employees check box.
    2. In the Select Employees field, select All Employees, or use the Employee lookup to select only certain employees.
  3. On the TrafficLIVE Web Service form toolbar, click the Run or Schedule option to start the web service now or schedule it to run at a later time.

    New employees from Vision are sent to TrafficLIVE if their status in the Vision Employee Info Center is Active.

3. In TrafficLIVE, enable the linked employee.

In TrafficLIVE, change an employee from disabled to enabled in the Account Details section of the employee record in Menu > admin > company management.

4. In Vision, modify employee records that are linked with TrafficLIVE as needed.

In the Employee Info Center Vision, make changes to linked employee records as needed.

Only certain fields that you change in Vision can be updated in TrafficLIVE. Those fields are listed in the drop-down list in the Vision Field field in the Fields to Sync grid on the General tab of the TrafficLIVE Web Service form.

5. In Vision, run the TrafficLIVE web service to update linked employee records in TrafficLIVE with the changes made in Vision.
  1. In Vision Utilities > Advanced Utilities > TrafficLIVE Web Service.
    1. On the General tab, select the Sync from Vision to TrafficLIVE check box.
    2. In the Fields to Sync grid, insert a row for the Employees Info Center, and in the Vision Field field, select the field from the employee record in Vision to update in TrafficLIVE.
    3. Repeat step 1.b. for other fields that you want to update in TrafficLIVE.
  2. On the TrafficLIVE Web Service form toolbar, click Run or Schedule on the toolbar to run the web service now or schedule it to run at a later time.

    It updates the employee record in TrafficLIVE with the changes made in Vision.

If you change the status of a linked employee in Vision, you must manually change the enable/disable setting in TrafficLIVE accordingly. The employee status is not updated automatically in TrafficLIVE when you change it in Vision and then synchronize using the TrafficLIVE web service.
