Linking Employees Between Vision and TrafficLIVE

If Vision and TrafficLIVE integration has been enabled and configured, you can send new employees from Vision to TrafficLIVE when you run the TrafficLIVE web service.

After new employees are sent to TrafficLIVE, they are considered to be "linked" between Vision and TrafficLIVE.

What You Need to Know About Linking Employees Between Vision and TrafficLIVE

The following information applies when you send employees from Vision to TrafficLIVE using the TrafficLIVE web service:

Item Description
Where to create new employees New employees that you create in Vision can be linked with TrafficLIVE when you run the TrafficLIVE web service. However, new employees created in TrafficLIVE cannot be linked with Vision when you run the TrafficLIVE web service.
Organization mapping for location and department Before you run the TrafficLIVE web service to send new employees from Vision to TrafficLIVE, you must configure the organization mapping for location and department on the Mapping tab of the TrafficLIVE Web Service utility.
Fields that are automatically mapped between Vision and TrafficLIVE See the Deltek Vision TrafficLIVE Integration Technical Guide for a complete list of the fields that are automatically mapped between Vision and TrafficLIVE employees. This includes fields from TrafficLIVE that Vision receives when you run the TrafficLIVE web service.
Employee email address An email address is required for employees in TrafficLIVE, so you must enter an email address for an employee in Vision before you send the record from Vision to TrafficLIVE. The email address must be a unique email address that no other employee has.
Employee status When you run the TrafficLIVE web service:
  • Only new employees with an active status in Vision are sent to TrafficLIVE when you run the TrafficLIVE web service. Inactive and terminated employees are not sent to TrafficLIVE. The Status field is on the General tab of the Employee Info Center in Vision.
  • New employees that were already linked between Vision and TrafficLIVE are not resent to TrafficLIVE.
Enabling employees in TrafficLIVE After employees are sent from Vision to TrafficLIVE, you must enable the employees in TrafficLIVE. You do this in the Account Details section of the employee record in Menu > admin > company management.
Where to make changes to linked employees Changes that you make in Vision to linked employees can be updated in TrafficLIVE when you run the TrafficLIVE web service. However, changes that you make in TrafficLIVE to linked employees cannot be updated in Vision when you run the TrafficLIVE web service.
Changing the employee status in Vision If you change the status of a linked employee in Vision, you must manually change the enable/disable setting in TrafficLIVE accordingly. The employee status is not updated automatically in TrafficLIVE when you change it in Vision and then synchronize using the TrafficLIVE web service.
Changing an employee's number in Vision In Vision Utilities > Key Conversions > Employees, you can change a linked employee's number. When you do this, the linked employee in TrafficLIVE is updated with the new number when you run the TrafficLIVE web service if you entered the following settings on the General tab of the TrafficLIVE Web Service utility:
  • The Sync from Vision to TrafficLIVE check box is selected.
  • In the Fields to Sync grid, you added a row for the Employees Info Center and the Employee Number field.
Export Errors If a new Vision employee caused an error and did not export properly to TrafficLIVE, check the TrafficLIVE Web Service Call Log. It is located at the bottom of the General tab of the TrafficLIVE Web Service utility in Vision. Click the hyperlink in the Message column in the grid to view more information about the error.
