Using the Help Search
  • Phrase:Returns all topics that contain the exact phrase in the search criteria. Use quotation marks around the phrase.
    Ex."system administration"
  • And:Returns all topics that contain all the words in the search criteria, in any combination. Insert a plus sign between all words in the search criteria.
    Ex.system + administration
  • Or:Returns all topics with any combination of words in the search criteria. This is the default.

Reorder Conditions in an Advanced Search

When using Advanced Settings, you can group multiple conditions to set the order of operations for the query. The order is based on the order of the conditions in the grid and to build a group, the conditions must be in contiguous order. If necessary, you can move conditions in the grid to change the execution sequence.

Prerequisites: Create a new search or open an existing search.

To reorder conditions in an advanced search:

  1. In the Search Criteria grid, select the checkbox next to the condition that you want to move.
  2. Click and drag the row to the desired location.
  3. Repeat this process until all rows that you want to group are in contiguous order.
    You can also drag rows from outside the group into the group. See the Troubleshoot Grouped Conditions help topic if you receive an error message when creating a group.
