Rules for Displaying Best Practice Tags

In displaying best practices, the following rules for the following content items apply:

Content Item Rules
All
  • All users can view best practice tags on the respective content items of applicable projects.
  • A project parameter best practice displays only in projects that share all selected parameters. For example, A best practice applies to three parameters: City, State, and Building Type. The best practice tag will display only in projects that have the same three parameters.
  • When you update the parameters of a project to parameters that do not fit a given project parameter best practice, the best practice stops displaying in the project.

When you revert the parameters, the best practice displays again. No changes are made to any existing best practice.

  • If a given item is tagged as a project parameter best practice () in one project and as a global best practice () in another project, only the global best practice tag () displays.
Project Element
  • For a given tagged project element, Specpoint tags the element's parent elements (all elements directly above it) as a best practice of the same type.
  • If an element has both a child element that is a global best practice and a child element that is a project parameter best practice, the element displays a project parameter best practice tag ().

Paragraph None
Option Set Item/Pill None
Manufacturer Option Set Item For a given tagged manufacturer option set item:
  • Specpoint tags the same manufacturer option set item in its corresponding manufacturer paragraph or BOD product paragraph as a best practice of the same type.
  • Specpoint tags its respective manufacturer product listing card as a best practice of the same type.
Product Listing Card For a given tagged product listing card, Specpoint tags the respective manufacturer option for the product listing in its corresponding manufacturer paragraph and BOD product paragraph as a best practice of the same type.

Rules for Setting Best Practices

In setting best practices, the following rules for the following content items apply:

Content Item Rules
All
  • Only administrators and members of the office master access group can set best practices.
  • For project parameter best practice ():
    • You can tag a content item as a project parameter best practice () from any project that has the intended project parameters.
    • You can update the selected parameter combination of a project parameter best practice tag on a given content item from any project that has the set project parameters.

When you update the parameters of a project parameter best practice tag, it may no longer apply to its previous projects.

    • A given content item can have multiple project parameter best practices () from different projects and different project parameters.
  • For global best practice ():
    • You can tag a content item as a global best practice () from any of your firm's projects.
    • If you tag a given item as a project parameter best practice () in one project and then tag the same item in another project as a global best practice (), only the global best practice tag () displays.
Note: In the project where the project parameter best practice item was set, the item displays a global best practice tag () but its best practice dialog box displays its original selections, which are the Set as Best Practice option and parameter options.
Project Element
  • You can tag only added assemblies, families/sections, and product types as best practices.
  • You cannot tag or modify the tag of an element that inherited a tag from its tagged child element.

For example, you cannot modify the project parameter best practice tag of an assembly element that Specpoint automatically tagged after you tagged its child family as a best practice.

See Rules for Displaying Best Practice Tags.

Article
  • You can tag only articles under an added family or product type.
  • You can tag only active articles.
Paragraph
  • You can tag only paragraphs under an added family or product type.
