The Security panel on the Navigation menu allows you to define the security rights for all EPM applications. Some applications have different options, but they all follow the same premise.
Selecting an item displays the corresponding form on the right pane of the interface, replacing the default Dashboard pane.
This item allows you to provide potential users with access to one or more supported Deltek applications, and to define user profiles. Clicking Users displays the Users form on the right pane.
This item allows you to combine users into groups, which are used to provide access to data, such as projects within Cobra, and to define group profiles.
Groups usually represent major programs (or large projects) within an organization, or functional groups, such as the project management office. The primary role for the user allows users within a group to have different rights.
There is a special group called WORLD in the Access Control group list that includes all users.
When you create a special group called PMC_CHANGEMGT_ADMIN in PM Compass, any user added to this group can edit data in the workflow form or in the Change Details view as if they were an assignee as long as the progress status for the workflow form is In Review or the workflow has not yet been started and they have rights to access the project.
Users in this group can only edit data; they cannot advance the workflow.
Clicking Groups displays the Groups form on the right pane.
This item allows you to define the type of operations a user can perform, such as access to certain menu items, tabs within a dialog box, or even elements of a view, such as actual costs. Users are given a primary role that can be overridden in the event that they have a different role on another project. Some examples of roles are Analyst, CAM, and Project Manager. If a user is not given a primary role, the role titled DEFAULT is used to identity the menu options that the user has rights to access.
Clicking Roles displays the Roles form on the right pane.
This item allows you to view and modify information about selected objects, which refer to data items to which an access control is granted. These objects are created and maintained within a supported application. For example, an object may be a project, a code file, or a menu item.
Clicking Objects displays the Objects form on the right pane.
