Terminal Parameter Group Detail

The Terminal Parameter Group Detail tab on the Terminal Parameter Group form is used to define how certain data may be entered on terminals belonging to specific Terminal Parameter Groups.

When an event is configured to trigger an event prompt and the event/prompt name combination is listed in the Terminal Parameter Group Detail, data may be submitted only via the input device listed in the Input Device field. The system includes default values for each of the default Terminal Parameter Group records.

Note: If no input device is listed, data entry restrictions do not apply.

Terminal Parameter Group Detail Field Descriptions

Terminal Parameter Group

Name of the Terminal Parameter Group to which this record applies.

Event

Displays the event to which these input device settings apply. When an event is configured to use a prompt and the event/prompt name combination is listed on the Terminal Parameter Group Detail form, data may be submitted only via the input devices listed in the Input Device field. Events are maintained on the Events form.

If you select ALL, the record will apply to all events and event prompts.

If an event prompt does not have a Terminal Parameter Group Detail record, by default the prompt will be enabled for Alphanumeric and Reader 2 input.

Prompt Name

Displays the prompt to which the settings apply. Event prompts are used to present a password field, text box, check box, etc., to employees when they post an event. When an event is configured to use a prompt and the event/prompt name combination is listed on the Terminal Parameter Group Detail form, data may be submitted only via the input devices listed in the Input Device field. Prompts are maintained on the Prompt tab of the Events form.

Input Device

Numeric: Input allows numeric values.

Alphanumeric: Input allows alphanumeric values.

Reader 1: Values may be entered via the reader configured as Reader 1 on the terminal. Readers can be a barcode laser scanner, induction reader, contactless LEGIC chip reader, magnetic reader, or HID reader.

Reader 2: Values may be entered via the reader configured as Reader 2 on the terminal. Readers can be a barcode laser scanner, induction reader, contactless LEGIC chip reader, magnetic reader, or HID reader.

Reader 3: Values may be entered via the reader configured as Reader 3 on the terminal. Readers can be a barcode laser scanner, induction reader, contactless LEGIC chip reader, magnetic reader, or HID reader.

Note: If no input device is listed, data entry restrictions do not apply.

Start Position

Identifies the position where the system should start reading the input values. The default start position values for each of the default Terminal Parameter Group records are listed below.

Update Date, Updated By

These fields display when the record was created or updated, and the person who created or updated the record.

 

Add a Terminal Parameter Group Detail

  1. Click Main Menu > Configuration > Terminal > Terminal Param Group.

  2. Select the record to which you want to add the Terminal Parameter Group Detail.

  3. Navigate to the Terminal Parameter Group Detail tab on the bottom of the form.

  4. Click Add.

  5. Select an Event.

  6. Select a Prompt Name (this field is disabled if Event is set to ALL).

  7. Select an Input Device.

  8. Enter a Start Position.

  9. If you want to add more than one Terminal Parameter Group Detail record, click Save and Add to save your settings and keep the Add form open. Or click Save to save your Terminal Parameter Group Detail record and return to the main tab form.

 

Modify a Terminal Parameter Group Detail

  1. Click Main Menu > Configuration > Terminal > Terminal Parameter Group.

  2. Select the Terminal Parameter Group record that contains the detail you want to modify.

  3. Navigate to the Terminal Parameter Group Detail tab on the bottom of the form.

  4. Select the Terminal Parameter Group Detail record you want to change and click Modify.

  5. Modify the necessary fields.

  6. Click Save.

 

Delete a Terminal Parameter Group Detail

  1. Click Main Menu > Configuration > Terminal > Terminal Param Group.

  2. Select the Terminal Parameter Group record that contains the detail you want to delete.

  3. Navigate to the Terminal Parameter Group Detail tab on the lower half of the form.

  4. Select the Terminal Parameter Group Detail record you want to remove and click Delete.

  5. Click OK to confirm the action.

Copy a Terminal Parameter Group Detail

  1. Click Main Menu > Configuration > Terminal > Terminal Param Group.

  2. Select the Terminal Parameter Group record that contains the detail you want to copy.

  3. Navigate to the Terminal Parameter Group Detail tab on the bottom of the form.

  4. Select the Terminal Parameter Group Detail record you want to duplicate and click Copy.

  5. Modify the necessary fields.

  6. If you want to make additional copies of the Terminal Parameter Group Detail record, click Save and Add to save your settings and keep the Copy form open. Or click Save to save the Terminal Parameter Group Detail record and return to the main tab form.
