Outside Gap

An Outside Gap event typically posts between a clock out and a subsequent clock in. For example, if a person leaves the facility and then returns, you can track the time in between. The Outside Gap tab on the Attendance Policy form is used to configure if an Outside Gap event should post between a person's clock out and subsequent clock in.

Note: An Outside Gap event is triggered only upon the subsequent Clock In. It will not be posted by an ATTENDANCE service instance.

Outside Gap Field Descriptions

Enable Out Gap

When this box is checked, the Outside Gap event is enabled and can post.

Post On Signed

When this box is checked, the Outside Gap event will post on days that have already been signed (by an employee, supervisor, or both). If this box is not checked, the Outside Gap event will not post on signed days.

A split day in a 9-80 schedule may have only the first or second half of the day signed. The system will examine each half of the split day separately when it checks for signatures, and will post the event on the half that complies with the Post on Signed setting. For example, if Post on Signed is not checked, the Outside Gap event will post on the half that is not signed, but will not post on the half that is signed.

Event Name

Identifies the Outside Gap event that will post between a clock out and a subsequent clock in.

Needs Schedule

When this box is checked, the Outside Gap event will only post if the clock out and subsequent clock in are within the applicable schedule.

Maximum Hours

Identifies the maximum number of hours and minutes (HH:MM) that can pass between the clock out and the clock-in in order for the Outside Gap event to post. The ROUNDED time stamp of the clock in will be measured against the ROUNDED time stamp of the previous clock out.

Ruleset Name

Identifies the Attendance ruleset that is applied when the Outside Gap event is triggered. The ruleset you select will determine the conditions needed to post the event, which event to post, how many hours should be posted, and how many penalty points, if any, to post.

The Ruleset Name is optional. If you select a ruleset, these rules will override the Post on Signed, Event Name, Needs Schedule, and Maximum Hours settings for the Outside Gap policy.
