Early Departure

The Early Departure tab on the Attendance Policy form is used to configure whether an Early Departure event should post when a person clocks out earlier than the applicable schedule end time.

Early Departure is calculated based upon the ROUNDED time stamp of the clock out measured against the latest normal schedule for the post date (including overtime schedules).

The ATTENDANCE service must include the ATTENDANCE_EARLY_DEPARTURE task to post Early Departure events. See Service Instances for more information on the ATTENDANCE service and its tasks.

Early Departure Field Descriptions

Enable Early Dep

When this box is checked, an Early Departure event will post if the person clocks out before the schedule end.

Post On Signed

When this box is checked, the ATTENDANCE service will post the event on days that have already been signed (by an employee, supervisor, or both). If this box is not checked, the ATTENDANCE service will not post the event on signed days.

A split day in a 9-80 schedule may have only the first or second half of the day signed. The ATTENDANCE service will examine each half of the split day separately when it checks for signatures, and will post the event on the half that complies with the Post on Signed setting. For example, if Post on Signed is not checked, the ATTENDANCE service will post the event on the half that is not signed, but will not post the event on the half that is signed.

When Indicator

The When Indicator setting will affect when the event will post to the timecard.

Immediately: The event will post when the person clocks out.

By Service: The event will post the next time the ATTENDANCE service runs.

Note: If the clock out was entered on a client terminal, the LABOR_ALL_MT service must run before the Early Departure event will post.

Event Name

Identifies Early Departure event that will post if the person clocks out earlier than the scheduled end time.

Points

This field defines the number of penalty points that will be posted for the person when they have an occurrence of this event. This field is only available when the Points Enabled check box is selected.

Ruleset Name

Identifies the Attendance ruleset that applies when the person clocks out before the schedule end. The ruleset you select will determine the conditions needed to post the event, which event to post, how many hours should be posted, and how many penalty points, if any, to post. For example, you may select a ruleset for early departures in which a person who leaves less than one hour early posts the EARLY_1 event with one penalty point, and a person who leaves more than one hour early posts the EARLY_2 event with five penalty points.

The Ruleset Name is optional. If you select a ruleset, these rules will override the Post on Signed, When Indicator, Event Name, and Points settings for the Early Departure policy.

Early Departure Events and Adjustments

When a person's timecard is adjusted, if Early Departure is configured to post By Service, the LABOR_ALL_MT service will run and determine whether to post the Early Departure event. The service will post the Early Departure event only if the time when the adjustment is made falls outside the person's applicable schedule.

For example, a person's schedule ends at 5 p.m. and the applicable schedule end time is 7 p.m. At 6 p.m., the timecard is adjusted and the person's clock out time becomes 4 p.m. The Early Departure event will not post because the time of the adjustment (6 p.m.) is still within the person's applicable schedule. It is still possible for the person to clock back in and continue working. However, if the adjustment is made at 8 p.m., the Early Departure event will post because that time (8 p.m.) is outside the person's applicable schedule.
