Eligibility Rules Tab

Use the Eligibility Rules tab to define who is eligible for enrollment in this benefit plan based on the employee status on the Manage Employee Salary Information screen.

You can also define age requirements on this tab, if applicable.

Field Description
Employee Class

Select this checkbox to sort by employee class. If you select this checkbox, use the Employee Class Code field (or the unlabeled field to the right) to enter, or click to select, the employee class code by which you wish to sort.

Employee Type

Use the selections in this group box to define who is eligible for this benefit plan based on the value in the Employee Type field on the Manage Employee Salary Information screen.

Field Description
Regular

Select this checkbox if regular employees qualify for this plan.

Part time

Select this checkbox if part-time employees qualify for this plan.

Temporary

Select this checkbox if temporary employees qualify for this plan.

Rate Type

The checkbox that you select in this group box must match your selection in the Rate Type field on the Manage Employee Class Codes screen.

Use the selections in this group box to define who is eligible for this benefit plan based on the value in the Rate Type field on the Manage Employee Salary Information screen.

Salary

Select this checkbox if salaried employees qualify for this plan.

Hourly

Select this checkbox if hourly employees qualify for this plan.

Fluctuating

Select this checkbox if fluctuating hour employees qualify for this plan.

Field Description
Employee Minimum Age

Enter the minimum age that an employee must attain to be eligible for this plan.

Minimum Hours Worked

Enter the minimum number of hours an employee must work to be eligible for this plan.

Disability exclusion

Select this checkbox if disabled employees and dependents are excluded from this benefit plan.

Eligibility Based on Home Address

This group box will allow users to specify whether the benefit plan should default and be validated based on the employee's postal code or State. Note that if the employee has an Employee Supplemental Address Audit (EMPL_SUP_ADR) record where the Type of Supplemental Address (TYPE_ADR) is Home, that address will be used. Otherwise, the employee's mailing address from the Employee (EMPL) table will be used.

Eligibility Criteria

Select whether the benefit plan should default and be validated based on the employee's postal code or state. Options are:

  • Postal Code: Select this option if this benefit plan should only default for and allow assignment to an employee that has a postal code which is specified on the Eligible Postal Codes subtask of this screen.
  • State/Province: Select this checkbox if this benefit plan should only default for and allow assignment to an employee that has a State which is specified on the Eligible States subtask of this screen.
  • Neither: Select this checkbox if eligibility for this benefit plan should not be based on the employee's postal code or state/province.

If the employee has an additional address type of Home, Costpoint uses that address to determine the employee's postal code or state. Otherwise, it uses the employee's mailing address.

Dependents

Dependent Eligibility

Field Description
Dependents eligible

Select this checkbox if dependents can be covered under this plan. If you do not select this checkbox, you cannot assign employee dependents to this benefit plan.

Select this checkbox if dependents can be covered under this plan. If you do not select this checkbox, you cannot select the Dependent(s) Eligible and Required flag on the Coverage Options subtask.

If you select this checkbox, the Child Maximum Age and Student Maximum Age fields will become enabled. If you deselect this checkbox, the Child Maximum Age and Student Maximum Age fields will become cleared and disabled.

Dependent must be spouse or child

Select this checkbox if only the spouse or child of the employee are the only dependents eligible for this plan. This will be used when assigning dependents to plans.

Child Maximum Age

Enter the maximum age at which a non-student dependent can still be covered under this plan. Spouses are excluded from this age editing. This is a required field if you select the Dependents Eligible checkbox in the Coverage Rules group box.

Student Maximum Age

Enter the maximum age at which a student dependent can still be covered under this plan. Spouses are excluded from this age editing. This is a required field if you select the Dependents Eligible checkbox in the Coverage Rules group box.
